jack is returning the candlestick…

Monday, August 29th, 2005

and along with it will go two usb network adapters and an internal.

of course, my brother WILL PROBABLY CRINGE AND HIT ME ON THE HEAD WHEN HE FINDS OUT ABOUT THIS.

i finally realize that the usb adapter #1 works perfectly well with my computer! the main problem was, i didnt directly connect the damn thing to my usb port, instead i connected it to my usb splitter. it took me so much time, effort and returning back these things to best buy and circuit city (thank god for them being neighbors at 86th street.)

but its all good. the best part is, my networking adapter after all the rebates minus the taxes would be $4.99 (not a typo error. it really is 5 bucks– hail to the shopping goddess who awaits 45bucks in rebates!)

now, my lone usb connection will forever be occupied by my network card.

must get usb pci card.

(BTW, its tax free week for NY!! from aug 30-sept 5, all articles of clothing less than 110bucks will be tax free! hoooraaaay! –you should also know that woodbury commons IS NOT PART OF TAX FREE WEEK BECAUSE THEIR COUNTY IS EXCEMPT. argh. for crying out loud!)

jack jumped over the candlestick

after weeks without internet and voluminous rantings with verizon and linksys techsupport people, i have finally achieved, glory.

my computer is finally hooked up to the wireless network (after trying two network cards. one usb, and one internal. the usb was a dud.)

when i first got it up and running, my signal was so nice that it was 80%. i cant friggin believe that the signal is not even up to half after one day! dammit — and getting it to 20% was the result of borrowing the omnidirectional antenna that looks like a candlestick.

the internet was working so fast when i got it back after something like four weeks… now its so frustrating that even my mozilla keeps talking to my firewall that its been driving me nuts. and i totally dislike using internet explorer, but i dont have a real choice here, do i?

its painful. argh. well, 14 more months until i get me my new pc. i think this one is just getting jealous.

foodcourt disgust

i hate eating at the mall here in the united states. although the sales are very good, i must say that eating in the mall is always a threat to your coronaries. if its not greasy fries, it would be the greasy bourbon chicken.

in one of my unfortunate food court trips at some westchester county mall, i went to taste all the chicken samplers that was handed out to me by the chinese waitresses. two dishes were competing, bourbon chicken and general tso’s chicken. the first having an english name and the latter is some chinese general’s. after tasting these dishes from three different restaurants, i have come to three conclusions:

1. the dishes dont look the same but taste the same
2. the restaurants have three different names but im thinking that there is one central kitchen that serves all three that the mallrats dont know about
3. the three different restaurants are owned by one entity only and that they may have come up with three different restaurants just to foster free enterprise.

the greasy fries almost always comes from nathan’s. strangely, all the nathan’s franchisers have this motto of hiring the most spaced out workers! i have never seen a nathan’s stand that had snappy employees. although i havent gone to every one in america, i must tell you that the formidable ones are found in jersey gardens food court, the woodbury commons foodcourt, the huge nathan’s mall at coney island and the worst ever is the one inside the city center cinema in white plains! i always have an extra bucket of patience for these guys who move soooo sloooow that i have concluded that they are in a perpetual state of marijuana high.

argh.

i have been devoid of my home internet connection due to my ex roommate’s negligence. other things that have come out of it is something that just bogged me down from all the stress of my 12 day workweek.

i hate the fact that reserving library books is a pain.

i hate the fact that AFTER NOT CHECKING MY MAIL FOR A WEEK ALL I GET IS JUNK.

i hate the fact that i cannot blog.

i hate the fact that my computer feels lonely without talking to other computers. it scares me that its hard drive might actually drive itself away from my apartment.

i hate the fact that i cant shop for airfare that i actually wont buy anytime soon.

argh.
