its funny that i only realize this from the movie "the last kiss" (well, lee made me see it, and i have this certain love for zach braff after seeing "garden state") but i guess it is true.

another year, another candle added to my cake (but not really, i didnt want to cause a fire alarm.). if there’s one thing i realized about throwing birthday parties, is - THROW ONE IN THE CITY.

my last birthday party was a drenched disaster compared to this one where the weather cooperated and half the guests showed up (you still owe me one, ernest.) what i got for my birthday was a party without me cooking anything - a bunch of great company and losing a bet where the stakes were making dinner for a week (and mind you, my roommate just forces me to do it! because i lost!).

i got one of the greatest birthday gifts of all time - the pasta cookbook of giada di laurentiis, thanks to the greatest "angela" who really is aggie in real life. this book is so kismet for this great bet because jerry is on a diet and only wants to eat pasta. hah. i did pay him back last monday, and this saturday so i only have three more days of pasta pleasing dinners to pay this one off. grr.

backtracking to my lifestyle when i was with ther ex-boyfriend who is deathly paranoid of taking the subway, i realize that the life of a suburbanite is not for me. most of my friends dont live in suburbia, and none of them are willing to drive all the way up north to come to my party - apart from the fact that very few have cars (and for those who did back then, i could never thank you enough). they will or will not come to any engagement not because its far, its because they have other things to attend to.

jerry kept insisting on throwing a party at home - but i had to decline because of the brooklynite crowd and the fact that i hate cleaning up and i just dont want to cook for my birthday. its stressful, a pain in the ass and very very tiring. the newyorker 10block radius standard is kinda rubbing on me.

its funny how turning 28 just made my biological clock tick LOUDER. at some point, i am scared to admit that i might never get married and never get offspring (what a waste of genes nyahahaha) but im glad that whatever happens, i am proud to say that my new york life has been good. hung over for a bit, but really really good.

lee always gets so scared about the big three-o, and the irony is the fact that she has 1.5kids to her name and a marriage that is quite wonderful. i complain about it because im almost there but i almost have nothing to show for it - well, to be 28 without excess baggage is an achievement in itself, but thats another story.

so there, im rambling. im probably scared of the life ahead of me - and a big part of me is scared to be in a cookie cutter life - house with a lawn in suburbia, too many family gatherings that life with friends is almost impossible, no more partying, and going out means eating dinner at somebody else’s house.

im scared, really. i cant believe after all the crazy things ive done in the past couple of years i just actually feel scared. i am getting old.

i’ll do whatever it takes to make the best out of my lemons and achieve hangover the following morning. hah.

i think im doing a pretty good job of doing so.
