on the sunny side of the street

last wednesday, armed with the idea of having dinner with leeann for her birthday after work, i went to work for the first time in my life in three inch heels.

yes, there is a first time for everything.

ive been trying out this "grown up" getup just to dress my age - but honestly i just love the compliments i get. hahaha. im almost 30 and i could barely stride confidently in decent heels. i’ll probably never be able to run in manolos - then again, i’ll probably never buy them.

to me, wearing heels is about looking good. 99 times out of a hundred, id rather be in sneakers but there is this little special feeling when i wear heels. first off, my legs look better (but i was wearing slacks…) and second of all my ass looks goddamn fine in them. wednesday was the day when i realized why a lot of women would rather suffer in silence than be in flats.

of course, i went to work looking the part. pearls and slacks notwithstanding. it was even funny to note that i walked all the way from bryant park to rockefeller center (6 blocks, but mind you, thats a lot in those shoes!) and complained about it when i got to work.

apart from looking fantastic (hey, its my blog, so let me be) i was listening to lisa ono’s version of "on the sunny side of the street" the whole day. if that doesnt lift my spirits up, beer will. sadly, beer at work is frowned upon.

yeah, my feet ached at dinner - but my mood was pollyanna sunshine the whole day. twas nice and i felt great.

now, if only i could bear to wear heels everyday and actually bear to trade all of my sneakers for it…
